Xavier University - Meet the CoachesXU Assistant Tennis Head Coach: Rutger "Rudy" Vliegenberg
Rudy Vliegenberg is returning as assistant coach for the Xavier University men's and women's tennis teams, as well as being currently enrolled in Xavier's MBA program.
A native of Mierlo, Holland, Vliegenberg earned a psychology degree from Washburn University where he was captain of the tennis team four years running. He was the Midwest's region (Division II) Most Valuable Player in 2006 and 2007 and reached a national ranking of as high as 6 in doubles and 20 in singles in Division II national rankings. Rutger has spent the last two summers working with ITF-ranked juniors at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, and the Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Raton, Florida. He has traveled extensively and worked for numerous non-profits. In Paraguay, South-America, he worked on the micro-finance program of Fundacion Paraguaya. In the summer of 2009, he traveled to Guatemala with Cooperative for Education – a Cincinnati-based non-profit organization. XU Assistant Tennis Head Coach: Jorick Vliegenberg
Tennis has always been Jorick Vliegenberg's passion. Growing up in Mierlo, Holland, it has long been his dream to build a tennis camp together with his brother, Coach Rudy, and this year they are seeing that dream come alive at Xavier University.
Since earning a bachelor degree in Marketing Management in the Netherlands, Jorick has worked for Philips Electronics in Eindhoven, Holland, as an Internet Marketer. In his spare time, Jorick volunteers with several non-profit international foundations focused on helping children across the world. Recently, with his brother Rudy, Jorick founded Tennis4CHANGE, to raise money for various children's organizations. |
