Adam Shoemaker

Adam Shoemaker

Adam Shoemaker is entering his 11th year working the tennis camp at Oberlin College. He is currently the assistant men’s and women’s tennis coach, assistant men’s soccer coach and assistant director of admissions at Oberlin. He graduated from Oberlin in 1996 with a degree in history and got his Master’s Degree in American Studies from the University of Alabama. Adam is looking forward to testing your concentration every morning with “Adam Says.”


Mary Herrick

Mary Herrick

Mary is the Tennis Director at Fox Creek Golf and Racquet Club where she has served as a Tennis Teaching Professional for the past 17 years. Mary has developed collegiate players, nationally ranked junior players and high school state champions and twice has coached teams to win gold medals in the National AAU Junior Olympics. Mary has coached Nationally ranked players for the United States Tennis Association. She has coached USTA Zonals, participated in the High Performance Coaching Workshop and served as an Area Training Center Coach. Mary is a past President for the United States Professional Tennis Association's (USPTA) Midwest Division. She was the President of the North Eastern Ohio Tennis Association. She was the recipient of the Herb Nold Volunteer Award in 1998 for North East Ohio and was given the National Tennis Industry Excellence Award from the United States Professional Tennis Association at the World Conference in 1995. She has been a speaker for numerous High School Coaches Conferences. She is on the Wilson Premier Advisory Staff.


Kevin Girard

Kevin Girard

Kevin Girard took charge of both the men's and women's tennis programs at Lawrence University in July 2007.

A native of Marquette, Mich., Girard comes to Lawrence from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa., where he has served as the assistant men's and women's tennis coach since September 2005.

While at Carnegie Mellon, Girard helped craft both the men's and women's teams into some of the best squads in the nation. Both teams at Carnegie Mellon achieved their highest finishes ever in the University Athletic Association in 2005, and Girard was honored as part of the conference coaching staff of the year in 2005-06. The Tartans had eight All-Americans and 10 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar Athletes during Girard's tenure.

A 2003 graduate of Michigan Technological University, Girard has a bachelor's degree in biological sciences and he holds the highest possible certification from the Professional Tennis Registry. A four-year letterwinner for the Huskies, he is the school's career leader in doubles victories. As a prep player at Marquette High School, he was a team captain and two-time Upper Peninsula state champion.


Jake Dowdell

Jake Dowdell

Jake graduated from Elyria Catholic High School. He played 4 years of varsity tennis and was captain of his team his senior year. He finished third in the state in doubles his junior year. This is his sixth year at the Yellow Ball camp with five years of teaching experience at FoxCreek Golf and Racquet Club in Lorain. Jake is a USPTA certified tennis professional and will be starting a full time tennis pro position in Columbus this fall.


Ashley Herrick

Ashley Herrick

Ashley Herrick is from Amherst Ohio. She is a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School. She played varsity tennis for four years. She was a 2- time Ohio High School State Qualifier finishing as a runner-up her junior year and a doubles state champion her senior year. Ashley attends Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. She is currently in the college of Humanities and Social Sciences.


Amy Aerni

Amy Aerni

Amy played Varsity tennis for three years at Magnificat HS in Rocky River. She played on the Club tennis team at Miami University for four years. Graduating from Miami in May 2008 with a BA in Botany and Environmental Science, Amy, hopes to go back to grad school to teach Earth Science or Biology. She enjoys swimming, SCUBA diving, darts, billiards, jogging. This is her second year teaching at Yellow Ball.


Kyle Bowers

Kyle Bowers

Kyle graduated from Norwalk High School. While in school he played soccer, basketball and tennis. In tennis he set the school record for wins. He went to the Ohio High School State Tennis Tournament in doubles and singles. He is currently a junior at Malone College in Canton, Ohio. He is majoring in business and accounting. Kyle plays both singles and doubles on his college team. His first two years of college his team went to the regional finals. This is his second year at Yellow Ball Tennis Camp.


Ricky Garrett

Ricky Garrett

Ricky Garrett is a Rocky River High School 2007 graduate where he played varsity tennis for 4 years. While in high school Ricky qualified for districts in singles all 4 years and won 3-conference tournaments. He currently attends Grove City College and is majoring in Business Management. At Grove City, Ricky played both doubles and singles and has won the PAC conference and ITA tournament at 3rd Singles. Ricky enjoys sports, movies and reading. This is Ricky's second year at Yellow Ball. Ricky is USPTA certified.


Ron Gasper

Ron Gasper

Ron graduated from Olmsted Falls High School in 2006. He has been playing tennis for many years. He currently attends Lorain County Community College where he recently switched his major to pre- medicine. Ron taught tennis at Fox Creek this past year. Ron was a camper at Yellow Ball Tennis Camp and is happy to be a part of the staff for his second year.

Justin Greenlee

Justin Greenlee

Justin graduated in 2005 from Shaker Heights High School. He is a two-time state qualifier in doubles, and his senior year the Shaker squad placed third in the state. He currently attends Kenyon College, which was ranked 7th in the nation in 2008 in Division III. In the spring he will begin his senior year, majoring in English and Art History. He has recently returned from Europe, where he spent the spring semester. Justin attended Yellow Ball Tennis Camp as a high school junior and has retained a relationship ever since.


Gursher Singh Harika

Gursher Singh Harika

Gursher, also known as "G" is from Toledo, Ohio. Gursher plays for the University of Toledo. He was ranked No. 6 in singles and No. 330 in the world as a junior in the International Tennis Federation in 2006. He participated in the Australian Open and the Orange Bowl in 2006. He was the winner in Turkmenistan and India and the runner-up in Uzbekistan in 2005. He was also runner-up, singles, all-India tennis tournament (under-18) and doubles runner-up in five events and champion at Chennai (India) and has traveled for tennis in 23 countries. "G" is USPTA certified. "G" is fluent in English, Punjabi (mother tongue) and Hindi. This is his first year at the Yellow Ball camp.


Kori Linzie

Kori Linzie

Kori graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 2006. She is attending Prairie View A ;& M University where she plays Division 1 tennis and is majoring in education. This is her first year at Yellow Ball.


Jacqueline Sammon

Jacqueline is a 2007 graduate of Elyria Catholic High School. She played Varsity Tennis for 4 years. While playing for Elyria Catholic, she was a 2-time Ohio High School State Qualifier in Doubles with Ashley Herrick. She was runner-up her junior year, doubles state champion her senior year. Jacqueline is a sophomore at Ohio Northern University, majoring in Chemistry. She plays doubles and singles for the ONU Tennis team. She was a Yellow Ball camper for 2 years.


Adam Stiwald

Adam Stiwald graduated from Amherst Steele High School in the Class of 2008. He graduated in the top 5 of his class. Adam played number two singles for Amherst and was a captain his senior year. In the fall of 2008, he will be attending Miami University to study pre-medicine.
